Seconds trapped by Minutes

Why would someone stare at a broken clock?
A useless wreck stoned by its lifeless appearance
Distorted by its unusual silence, and perplexed by its locked hands
It holds only a single moment—a unique time
A time that tells me it is exactly 11:59
One minute before tomorrow
One second before she leaves
Her hand gripped by his hand
Together, they lie on the same number
Fingers intertwined, and tangled by love knot
He seizes not only her hand, but time as well
And as I stare at this clock, it is not time that passes my life
But my life wasted on time
Only to know a second later, she will leave, and he will chase
A minute later, he will stop, and she will fade
Disillusioned by this strange clock, I wish time would never take its course,
As every second that passes by is one less second as I stare at this clock
Now I look at the time
It is one minute before tomorrow
This is why I stare.
