My heart beats in my chest

My chest rises and falls as my breathing slows

I think of you and a smile crosses my face

I feel a pain in my chest

A ripping that stems from my heart

IT tears me in two along the middle

I am pulled

By some invisible force

In either direction

My smile turns as it is ripped in half

My eyes are closed

They do not open

My lifeless body remains still

I lay

Ripped in two

A victim of events I cannot control

The wishes and wants of my heart

Against the antagonism of the world

My soul is mendable though

Even if my body is not

Stitches and time can heal me

But my body will remain broken

Treat my soul carefully

For I place it delicately in your hands

All of my being I have left

I trust to you
