The Battle for Solitude

This is a dark time, a dark time ended. The drill will soon arrive to Solitude the lost capital of Tamriel. The great city on the Cliff of Elrond, the city which streets ones floated with joy and laughter is now in the hands of the dark elf prince Melkor. The ancient alliance between men and dark elves has drowned in Melkors dominion. Now Melkor, the murder of his own father, the old king Oberon is reaching for the ancient sword Chillrend. Buried miles under Solitude, it lays as the only artifact, from the gods who created this world, not lost in time. Chillrend, the sword of Geludor, the ice god, which used it to control the power of ice and time, in this world. With Chillrend, Melkor can gain total power over Tamriel, and the age of men, will be over. He only needs one thing to get to Chillrend, one thing that are to change one boy’s life, forever.

Somewhere in a little village, in the country, lived a young man. He’s house was not the biggest house, but nice. In the house lived the Carter families five people; a dad, a mom, a daughter and two sons. The two sons were very competitive, and made everything in to a competition. It was always the same that won, the older brother. The younger one, Daniel, him witch this story is about, wasn’t very strong. He was short, and thin. The older brother, John, was quite the opposite, tall and strong.

One day the two boys were out in the forest, nearby the house, gathering wood. Daniel was behind like always, the objective was to gather the most wood, until they should return. “Ha! I’m winning again” John said. Daniel looked angry at him “That’s because, you’re cheating!” Daniel was obsessed by the idea of winning just one time, this should be the time! Daniel ran into the bushes, when he suddenly fell. He now found himself in a little cave underground. He looked around; it looked, surprisingly, like a little home, not used in years, but a home. There were books, pots and pans, a little desk and even a few paintings. He now turned his head towards the bed; it was like something lied underneath the blanket. Slowly, with his heart pounding, he pushed the black blanket aside. It was a skeleton, Daniels heart froze. Normally he would have ran out of there as fast as he could, but something held him back, something on the skeletons finger.

He woke up with a stunning headache. The floor was shacking, he was on a carriage. Did he still have it?! Yes, it was still in the secret inner pocket. The next question was; who is riding the carriage? He stuck his head out, first the sun blinded him, but now he could make out a figure of an old man riding the carriage. He was afraid, but something about the man, made him a little more comfortable about the situation. There were so many questions, Daniel coughed, and the man turned around. “Oh, you’re up!”

It was evening and Daniel and the old man sat around a fire. The man’s name was Wikis. He started explaining “As you know, my name is Wikis. I have thru a long period of time studied the old scrolls concerning Geludor, the ancient ice god. I have recently discovered the secret of how to get to Geludor’s powerful sword, Chillrend. See, Chillrend was buried by the gods to keep it from falling in the wrong hands. It was buried miles underground, and after sealed off with the city of Solitude on top. To prevent any drilling down to the sword, the gods put a spell on the rock below Solitude. Now the rocks can only be touched by the gods, themselves. There is only one problem, when the gods left this world, Geludor’s ring fell off. Nobody knew where it was, until I revealed, that it has been in the possession of the old elf king. He was drown away by his people, and saw refuge in the very woods you come from. I found his cave underground, but the ring was gone! Then I saw you, knocked you out and searched you. I’m sorry by the way. I found nothing on you. I took you to my carriage to interrogate you, but I couldn’t wake you up. So, here we are now, halfway to Solitude” Daniel sat a little trying to swallow what he had just heard, should he tell him about the ring? He probably should. He started “Wikis, I know where the ring…” But he was interrupted. Over Wikis head stood a giant troll. Daniel gasp, the troll knocked Wikis out and approached Daniel. What should he do?! The troll now stood directly in front of him. Daniel could smell its terrible breath. He was just about to vomit. The troll began to speak “What do we have here?” Daniel studded out “None, I’m just a boy!” The Troll replied “Ha ha, that may be, but why can I smell diamond from your pocket, miles away?” Daniel was terrified, he took out the ring. He could feel its power. He wished it could save him; Daniel opened his eyes and saw the troll was dead frozen.

He woke Wikis up, and told him about the ring. “Splendid!” Wikis said. “Now we know that Melkor can’t use it with his drill. There is hope now!” Next day they stood just out of Solitude, they could see Melkors guards, standing by the gate. “How’re we going to get past them?” Daniel asked. Wikis looked at him and said “You got to use the ring!” Daniel appeared concerned “I’ll try” he said. And the ring did the job. They had gotten all the way into Solitude and were now standing in front of Melkor himself, Daniel looked him in the eyes and saw the evil and hatred glowing out of them. Melkor shouted “How dare you challenge me?! This is MY world! I will now crush you, foolish boy!” Melkor wielded his mace. As Melkor approached, Daniel put out his ring. “Ha, ha, that won’t help you against me!” Melkor said. He was right, it didn’t work! But maybe… Yes! A shining light appeared, and in his hands was Chillrend, it was glowing blue and the most beautiful thing Daniel had ever seen. Melkor gasp “No, it can’t be true!” Melkor charged Daniel, Daniel swung his sword, and Melkors head was separated from his body. Daniel fainted.

Daniel woke up, he found himself in his own bed. Was it all just a dream? He stood up, it must have been. Daniel reached for his jacket, what was that, in his front pocket? Could it be…?

The End
