I always felt the obnoxious guy behind you should have a say, so I'm giving him one. Hope you enjoy it.

The Person Behind You

You see me hundreds of times a day, although I consist of many forms.  Nearly every time you get into your car or cross the street I am there.  Whomever you are and wherever you are going you will encounter me.  Like it or not I am here.  I was here long before you came and will be here long after you are gone.  I am the person behind you.

Are you aware of the fact that I have places to go and things to do?  Being stuck in traffic behind you is not on the schedule.  Progress is defined as my getting from Point "A" (where I am now, stuck in traffic, behind you) to Point "B" which is my destination.  You are holding up progress.

I have been known to use certain questionable tactics such as tailgating, non-stop horn blasting, and flashing my highbeams into your rear view mirror.  When you find yourself the recipient of such tactics please do not take it personally.  I am only trying to get you to move.  By the way, thanks for stopping at that yellow light.  We could have both gotten through, and now I'm stuck waiting here, behind you.  Thanks a lot.

Should you be lost - PULL OVER and get your bearings.  Do not simply drive slowly in the hopes of seeing your destination, because doing so will cause me to be delayed.  Obtaining the cross streets of your destination can also greatly aid in finding it.  Should you be looking for a parking space please pull over and double park, so that I may pass you and not get stuck at the next light.

Would that it would be possible to explain the beauty of man and machine working perfectly ie: having one's RPM's right where he wants them.  My vehicle and I end up becoming what amounts to one extended continuous motion.  Calling the pnenomenon Poetry in Motion cannot begin to do it justice.  And to have it despoiled by your presence, well now you know why I blow my horn.

Believe it or not, we can co-exist peacefully on the road together.  It is quite possible that you find me to be obnoxious, overbearing, and impatient.  Well you are entitled to your opinion but before you cast judgment I would like to introduce you to an assiciate of mine.  He is the person behind me.  Perhaps you'd also care to say hello to the person behind the person behind me.  The person behind the person behind the person behind me also sends his regards.  As far as the person behind hin goes, well there are certain words not fit for print and he is screaming them all at the top of his lungs.  You are holding us all up.  MOVE IT ALREADY!

i drive on a stretch of road for a half a mile on the way to work that's a 55 mile-an-hour zone. if anyone ever goes under 60 mph, i pass 'em, even if i have to use the right lane. sorry, but i've got places to be. liked it.

This story has a very original perspective and is told carefully and cleverly. Good job!
