i was once, on a lovely

spring-like day driving

down a road, singing

to a tune i know but

i so commonly forget.

and just as the singer began

the second verse of this no-name song

the car began to pitch somehow forward

somehow unbalanced by

a somehow misplaced pebble

a somehow lonely piece of gravel

and the wheels slid and detatched themselves

from the angry pavement below

until the car rolled possibly once

or twice or even three times,

in time with the song on the still-

playing radio. i came to a sudden

rest or stop. there was not a reststop

nor any other cars to speak of

in sight. i sat quite still and quiet

(upside down, that is, by the way)

slightly perplexed, seeing as how

i had quite suddently forgotten the words

to the third verse

of the no-name song

still playing on the radio.
