I wanted to write something about my old black Fedora, and ended up writing about an old friend of mine.

You know that old black hat?
The one I always wore 'round you?
Yeah! That's the one!
I've been thinking more about it,
and why I miss my old black hat,
And you.

Remember when we were up all night?
Talking 'bout dreams and realities?
Yeah! 'Bout how we'd take advantage
Of our opprotunities?
I've been thinking more about that,
My old black hat,
And you.

I don't know why you left,
And with that one small bit of theft,
Took the magic of my old black hat,
But I've been thinkIng of forgiving you,
And pulling out my old black hat,
And wearing it again,
But I need you.

I still believe in what we had,
So maybe I could see you soon?
We could run around town,
Just me,
my old black hat,
And you.

So if you see it walking by,
The place we went when we imagined
We could fly,
Don't say a word,
Just grab it,
The way you used to.
'Cause I've always loved the way it looked,
My old black hat,
On you.

And if in you heart, you believe it too,
Then I hope that maybe,
Maybe, you'd say you've missed this too.
Me, my old black hat,
And you.
