A NATIONAL HERO
A head buried in the bottom of a glass,
an old-young man stumbles to his feet.
He doesn’t care how low he has sunk,
he just wants to drown those memories with another drink.
War medals upon his chest,
citations for laying others to rest.
A National hero screams out in the night,
for comrades who have turned to blight.
When humanity goes to war there are more casualties
then those whose names are embossed along a polished marble wall.
