Today I saw my friend absolutely crush on this girl

His brain in a whirl

He couldn’t tell if she digged him and I wondered the same thing

It made me think of this girl I used to crush on

The girls I am crushing on

And the girls that I soon will fall for

And how I probably missed out on being with one or two of those crushes

It makes me wonder what girls I missed and if we ever notice

The people who notice us.

I think falling in love is a fuss

But being in love is silence

And I probably missed the quiet parts in relationships of people who’ve loved me

It’s strange.

I’ve made so many “friends” and I think I lost even more than I’ve gained.

Strangers have made me feel a stronger connection then my closest “friends”

It makes me think of the friends I probably missed

Because I was focused on the ones in front of me

I probably missed out on the ones beside me

I probably missed the people who could help me most

Because I wanted certain people to lead the way

I probably missed the chance to be someone’s crutch

Someone’s crush because at night I’m focused on the days long past

Instead of thinking of what I just saw

Probably missed a chance to be a better person

Probably missed a chance to be better for someone

I probably missed the chance to fuck up with no consequences

Sneak a few drinks, kiss a few girls

Say a few things that I could actually take back

I was too concerned with approval.

I probably missed a chance to make a few embarrassing stories

I probably missed a chance to redeem mistakes

I probably missed a chance to think things through

Probably missed a chance to just fuck things up with you….

I probably have a chance to sky dive

To free fall for a moment and grasp how low the ground is

I probably have a chance to sail

To feel the wind on my face and smell the salty sea air

I probably have a chance to fall in love

To write love notes and sing songs to

I probably have a chance to grow old with that unique fit

And look back on the chances I actually took

Like taking a chance on you

On me

On family

And god

Taking a chance to be happy.

I probably won’t miss that chance

In fact

I’m taking that chance as soon as this poem is over
