Dr. Phillip Quinn had been working in the laboratory all day. He had promised his wifeGloria that he would wrap things up early that night. It was their daughter Zodi's,third birthday and Gloria had planned a huge gala for her. DR.PHILLIP QUINN As much as i loved my daughter,I felt that such a party for a 3 year old was a bit extravagant, but it was just so much easier to let Gloria have her way.Gloria was eight months pregnant,so I was inpressed that she even had the energy to put this party together. I was so close to finding the exact formula on my current project that I was finding it difficult to leave the lab.I had been working on this project for nearly a year now.I had one week to perfect it.The lab rats that served as test subjects had various reactions to the drug. The drug was designed to be a cure for cancer. Several of the rats seemed totally cured after just  two injections, several of the rats showed no change at all.I would be injecting the rats that showed no change again tomorrow.Only one rat had expired. The drug itself was perfect,I just needed to find the exact amount to inject into my test subjects according to size and weight. What I really wanted was a human test subject.I knew that the pharmaceutical companies would pay big money for this drug. One in particular was already showing a lot of interest. They were inpressed with the results thus far and had already sent me a large check to continue my research. The biggest plus was that the drug was in a liquid form making it easy to take.In my tests I had found that the drug worked just as well if I mixed it in the rats water bottles. This saved the pain of an injection. The county fair was only one week away.I would have my human test subject then.I knew that I would never be able to let this information be known, but I would know for myself what the side effects of the drug to humans would be. KENNA PARRY,CHIEF MEDICAL EXAMINER,BARLOW COUNTY Victim: male Name: Roger Wesley Mr. Wesley had taken a day off work to join his wife and childern at the county fair.Mr . Wesley purchased two bottles of water, one for himself and one for his son.Father and son then got on the Ferris Wheel. Three minutes into the ride,Mr. Wesley was dead. His son was in shock but otherwise, fine. The coroner and Myself were called to the scene at 10:30 AM.We confiscated both bottles of water to be sent to the lab for testing. We were targeting any chemicals or drugs that would leave an otherwise healthy thirty-seven year old man dead if indeed the cause of death was to be found in the water bottles.Dr.Stillman,the county coroner, prepared the body for transport to the morgue, where an autopsy would be preformed. DR.PHILLIP QUINN NO! NO! NO! This is not the result I was hoping or aiming for! HOW could this have happened? I had placed the drug into only one water bottle and  secertly marked it .After the subject purchased the water I followed him and his family to observe any reaction that he might have had.The examination of the test rat that died indicated that the drug left no traces in a body. There would also be no traces of residue within the water bottle either. But what went wrong? I needed to think.....The family had purchased cotton candy just before they purchased the water.I would have to research each ingredient of the cotton candy to see if something in it had caused some adverse reaction resulting in the test subject's death. I KILLED A MAN.A man with a family.I feel horible and very guilty. How could I live with what I had done? This drug was designed to cure, not kill! KENNA PARRY The autopsy report has come back.Mr.Wesley's cause of death seems to be nothing, nothing at all.Mr.Wesley's heart was strong, lungs clear,no damaged organs,no hidden diseases, all in all ,internally he was the picture of health .Mr.Wesley should've lived to be  one hundred years old, yet,at thirty-seven,he was lying on a slab in a morque. And we had no answers. Not even the contents of his stomach produced anything unusual. He had eaten cotton candy shortly before his death. He wasn't diabetic,so diabetic shock was not an answer either. We were at a standstill in the investagation. It looked like a real mystery. We were still waiting on the test results from the water bottles to come back from the lab;perhaps there were answers in them.Bill Whitman, the officer in charge of this case, was still interviewing every person that was near the victim at the fair that day,his family and friends. So far ,the interview's turned out that Mr.Wesley was an all around nice guy. He had no known enemies, was much liked by friends and family, was faithful to his wife, worked hard, coached little league, and was an avid volunteer.what could have happened to him? DR.PHILLIP QUINN After discovering the main ingredient in cotton candy was spun sugar I added a bit to to the drug and put it in half the test rat's water bottles. In the other halfof of the test rat's water bottles I added a bit of the dyes that were also an ingredient in the cotton candy. The result was, the rat's that recieved the sugar only, thrived. The ones that recieved the dyes ,expired. I now needed to pinpoint the exact dye that had caused such an adverse reaction. After my research on the dyes, the pharmaceutical company mailed me another check based on my findings. They were interested in securing the formula for the anti-cancer drug.I decided to sell this formula to them but only after one more human trial.I had it all planned out. This time I would find a large company, just before lunch time,I would go in and secretly add the formula to two bottles of water. One bottle would contain plain water plus a bit of sugar, the other I would add a solution of the cancer drug and the chemical compound found in some cotton candy dye. Tomorrow.....I would execute my plan.Tonight though,I had inportant plans.I would be taking Zodi to a movie.Gloria's friends were holding a party in her honor,a baby shower.Zodi is a delightful child so I am looking forward to the time we will spend together as father and daughter at the movies. KENNA PARRY The lab results came back on the water bottles. No residual drugs or chemicals were found in either bottle.Mr.Wesley's cause of death was ruled undetermined/accidental and we closed the case. With the case being marked as such, Heidi Wesley, would now be able to bury her husband and collect on his life insurance policy. Something in my gut still didn't sit quite right with me concerning this odd case. I visited Heidi Wesley at both her home and office.Nothing in her behavior or in my interview's aroused any suspicions in me.Heidi Wesley seemed to have loved and respected her late husband. She was deeply grieving for his loss  .I personally felt that if it were not for her childern,Heidi would have gone off the deep end. Her feelings seemed very real and raw.I just couldn't suspect her of any wrongdoing in this case. After several visits,Heidi and I became friends. DR.PHILLIP QUINN My human test on the cancer drug had to be put on hold for today.Gloria went into early labor. She awoke this morning with a small ache in her stomach and as the morning wore on,She went into full labor. At 9:05 AM Gloria was admitted to the maternity ward and at 10:30 AM our son,Jacobi, was born.He was perfect, not showing the reddish colored skin that most newborns are born with.He is such a handsome little fellow.I spent the rest of the day, holding my son and catering to Gloria's every whim. How I loved that woman. As I held little Jacobi I dreamed of the day's ahead .I would teach him to play baseball, catch lightning bugs, take him camping, and all the other things dads and sons do together. My mother brought Zodi to the hospital that afternoon to meet her new baby broher. She was in awe.Life is precious!  KENNA PARRY The Medical Examiner'sOffice recieved another call today.A woman had expired at her place of business. It was the same exact method of operation as Mr. Wesley. Aiden Powell was a perfectly healthy 21 year old female. She worked for the Ford Company,a company that produced food products for a large number of other companies for retail sale. Ms. Powell had taken her lunch break at 11:00AM.She purchased a bottle of water at the lunch counter. She had brought a sack lunch from home that day. Before Ms. Powell finished half the bottle of water, she was dead. Once again my investigation came up on a dead end. There was no reasonable cause of death via the autopsy report,no drugs in her system, and no residual drugs or chemicals in the water bottle or food.Again, the death was ruled undetermined/accidental.  Our investigation found that Ms. Powell was well-liked by her friends,co-workers,and acquaintances. No known enemies. Her mother and fiance were beside themselves with shock and grief.Ms.Powell was a young healthy female and should have had many more years to live. My gut told methat somethoing was very wrong with these identical cases of Wesley and Powell.I vowed to get to the bottom of these senseless deaths. DR.PHILLIP QUINN Just today I have released the formula for the cancer drug to the pharmaceutical company. They reciprocated by writing me yet another big check. ONE WEEK LATER....... I am enjoying a little down time. I have been staying at home and watching my childern as my wife Gloria goes to work. What a joy it is for me to watch my daughter and son grow and learn.Jacobi is learning new things everyday.Zodi has learned the entire alphabet and recites it constantly. The childern are learning new things and strangly, so am I. Zodi and I have special plans for my wife Gloria tonight.....We are planning a dinner for her.Just a quiet affair to show her how much we love her.   I am going to ask Gloria to quit her job this evening at dinner. We no longer need her income.Of course,I understand that Gloria needs her space and time for herself.I am perfectly willing to go along with whatever it is she plans to do to find time for herself.I just miss her terribly when she is working. I also feel she is missing inportant milestones with the childern. I am looking forward to a very interesting dinner this evening....... KENNA PARRY Both the Wesley and Powell cases have been formally closed and moved to cold case files. We found ourselves unable to keep these cases open without one shred of evidence that pointed to foul play.I have logged in numerous hours on these cases, all to no avail. It seems these two people died for absolutely no reason.I am hoping that these were isolated cases and not the ear marks of a clever serial killer. In my gut I feel that something sinister took place; yet I have no proof.I still visit the families of the victims.Maybe one day I will have answers for them.Heidi Wesley is recovering from her grief with more good days than bad now.Heidi and I took on the task of cleaning out Roger Wesley's dresser and closet last weekend.I found myself crying right alongside Heidi as we boxed up his things and i took them to the donation center.Maybe someday......... an answer. DR. PHILLIP QUINN

Today I destroyed the copy of the cancer drug formula that I had kept for myself. I just couldn't look into the eyes of my childern and know that I had the perfect drug formula in my possession.I had after all created and used it,which resulted in the deaths of two inocent people.I would forever have to live with my conscience knowing that the drug designed to cure a deadly disease could also kill without a trace. The perfect drug. With the initial money I recieved from the drug formula and the subsequent royalties that would be endless,Gloria and I retired from our jobs. However that dosen't imply that we are sitting idle.We are both pursuing different interests. We also take time each day to be with our childern as we watch them grow and thrive. THREE MONTHS LATER Gloria and I moved to Jamaica.Everyday here is paradise.Life is indeed a dream to be had.We have made some new friends here and our childern are tanned and thriving in the sun. Gloria talks non-stop about opening a little tourist shop just down the street from our seaside home.......you know me.....whatever Gloria wants.............. Both sets of our parents are coming for a visit next week.We are looking forward to this, especially in light of the fact that Gloria's mother was just diagnosed with stage four uterine cancer. It is my hope that our parents will decide to relocate to Jamacia as well. I have almost talked Gloria into another baby.I can tell she really wants one.I make it sound like the whole thing is my idea........
