On November 11th at 11:00pm, we all remember the many who have fallen to give us freedom. Many brave soldiers fought to protect us, give us free speech and to allow us to do pretty much what we are able to do now. They truly did fight for our country. Men and women all stood up to the plate when there was news of war. They man have volunteered for many different reasons, but they all still fought and died for our country and for us. On this mournful day of the year, we take two minutes of our time to pay respect to those who died for us. It only takes two, simple, short minutes, which is absolutely nothing compared to the years that they fought for our country. We also make a simple gesture by wearing poppy pined onto our shirt as a sign of remembrance. The tradition started in the First World War with a french women named Madame E. Guerin who suggested that all of the woman and children in France make poppies to sell to support the veterans. This tradition has lived on strongly. There was even a doctor in 1915 named Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae who wrote a poem about them entitled Flanders Fields.
