Hello, I am Artemis, the goddess of the wild things, the moon and the protector of young woman. As you can see, those poor, innocent citizens had gotten themselves into a real pickle. I feel bad for the girl... but a monster has got to eat right? I mean, its only every ninth year. There actually is a very interesting story about the Minotaur.
You see, Minos was a very foolish man. All he wanted was to rule Crete, but he had his brothers in his way. He dicided to pray to Neptune, the god of the sea, to send him a white bull as a sign of approval. He was suppose to sacrifice the bull in Neptune's honor, but kept it instead. Neptune was furious! To punish Minos, Neptune made Pasiphae, Minos's beloved wife, fall uncontrollably in love with the Cretan bull, also known as the bull from the sea. She has a famous archilect named Daedalus create a wooden cow for her. The child of Pasiphae and the Cretan bull was a monster, later known as the Minotaur.
Because I am the goddess of the hunt, I thought that I should be the one to hunt and kill the Minotaur, but no.... my father Zeus seems to think that a "hero" should do the job. So far, the score is pretty sad, monster: 10, heroes: zip. Anyway, after the Minotaur grew into his "grumpy years", Minos asked Daedalus to construct a huge laybrinth, which would house the monster for years to come. *Signs*, if only they has anger management classes back then.
