Readers might remember my previous part, where I had mentioned some of the characteristic features of the birds and their movement hither and tither in search of foods and shelter and also their
Nomadic Migration specially to suit the weather conditions and in search of Foods according to the need of the situations.

Also I explained briefly about my experience and opportunity to be in touch with certain species of birds and their bonding with me and my family members during their tenure of stay at my residence
as specialized guests. After reading the previous part of “Reminiscence about Birds “, one of my school friend now staying at Bangalore suggested me to write about my experience with one species of
bird at a time in a single part so that the busy readers could take a little time from their occupied schedule and enjoy reading about it.

Now, in this part-II, taking advice of my school friend, I would like to add one more experience which happened very recently. In going through my briefing of my recent experience of my association
with an injured baby “Jungle Babbler’’, I would like to draw kind attention to the readers and declare the fact that I am not a good writer and am unable to arrange them properly but somehow I want
to express a little bit of my experience and feelings about the innocent Tiny creatures of nature which may not be attractive and interesting to my dear readers. So please do bear with my writings

This episode started on 28th of February’2018(A day before the famous “Holi’’festival in India), when my Son noticed that an injured baby of the species “Jungle Babbler’’ lying in my Garden area at the backside of my residence. On hearing the news, I suddenly rushed to the area where it was resting and I made a wild guess that in trying to make its first flight(Probably as advised by its parents), it fell near my boundary wall and in the process injuring one of its legs and a little part of its wings. As I noticed the baby Babbler lying and unable to take its flight, I had a soft corner for the innocent creature and moreover at the back of my mind, I had a feeling that it might be a prey for the intruder Cat which makes a visit at my residence every now and then without any invitation. Thinking about the danger, I wanted to catch hold of the injured “Jungle Babbler’’ and nurse him to recover its wounds and keep it in a safe place.

As I tried to catch the baby bird, it got frightened and started running away from me with one leg to the front of my residence and subsequently to a safe corridor beside my Garage. I felt pity and gave the baby bird sufficient time to rest and relax. After a while, I tried again to catch hold of him to bring it to safe place. But this time when I touched its feathers, it got frightened again and started moving away from me with one leg and finally it went outside my residential area to a field, where there were lots of pigeons who were still busy eating all the rice grains supplied by me and two Dogs who had just finished eating the loaf of breads given by me. Now, thinking about the arrival of more danger, I was desperate to catch hold of the baby bird for its safety and this time I used a handkerchief provided by my wife and threw the same on it. Being unsighted, it didn’t move and finally I could catch hold of the baby gently and kept it inside a perforated Basket and allowed it to take rest for a while.

Now, it was time for me to get ready to go to office and subsequently dressed up and came out for my office. Though I was in office, I was very much worried for the baby bird but the reactions and the whereabouts of the baby bird was conveyed by my wife and Son every now and then. They informed me that, the parents of the baby were searching for their baby at the backside of my residence where it was found and looking at their eagerness, the baby bird was transferred to a cage and the cage was hung at the backside of my residence. The parents of the baby bird were delighted to discover that their baby was still alive and started to communicate with their baby. Now on my instructions, the baby was released from the cage near the creeping shrubs allowed to stay with its parents and the parents accordingly guided the child to a safer place in the midst of the Tomato shrubs where it can’t be noticed by an intruder. The parents now started bringing food for their child with their beak and started feeding their child. They also instructed their baby the methodology to fly in steps so that it can master the tricks of flying so that it can independently move around to its nest and search for foods. The experience of their Communication and training was an awesome Scene to my wife and son which had no words of expressions.

When I reached back home from my office in the Evening, I observed that the parents had already left their baby to our custody and there were no further visits by them. Thinking about the danger of Intruder Cats, I caught hold of the baby bird softly as done previously and put it inside the same basket and kept it inside our house. We were observing its conditions every now and then and tried our best to cure its injury by our own means and fed the baby with pasted and cooked rice and water. Somehow, it accepted some of our feeding and went to a stage of Torpor and then finally slept.

On the 2nd day, early in the Morning, the baby bird was released at the backside of my Garden and as usual it went to a safer place within the Tomato shrubs waiting for the arrival of their parents after giving frequent bird calls and subsequently the Parent birds along with other birds of the same species started feeding the baby and thereafter demonstrated the methodology for flying to a higher altitude. The baby bird tried a lot, but could manage to fly up to 2/3 foots of height and being unsuccessful, it was taking its shelter to the same old safe place within the shrubs. Before the evening as usual the baby was brought inside our house. By now, it started communicating with us indicating that it was hungry by repeated calls and hence we took the baby gently in our hands and started feeding the baby. Surprisingly this time the baby was accepting our feedings gleefully without any repercussions. Then it was kept in the basket where it went to sleep.

On the 3rd day, the whole episode was repeated with the exception that it was showing signs of recovery and confidence of flying. On the 4th day, early in the Morning, it was usually released to the same place and to our surprise, we noticed that the baby bird could fly higher on the instructions of its Senior Species/Parents. Ultimately, it was able to fly to a tree about 9 foots tall and was resting on its branch and in the process collecting further energy in order to make a bigger Flight. Now it was time for me to leave for my office and I hurriedly left thinking high about the bird. Further the bird could not be noticed anymore. Hope that the bird gets cured by the grace of God and could lead a free natural life of its own without any bonding. We wished, wherever the bird is let it be happy and lead its natural life of freedom with its species and we prayed to God for its speedy recovery. My dear readers, by now you might be having a soft corner for the innocent creatures of the world and their struggle for Existence. I would like to make a special request to you to come forward and help them before they reach to the stage of Endangered bird or become Extinct. Hope I could come up with some more experiences in my next part if given an opportunity by the almighty.
