A poem about the girl that I love, who is quickly falling out of my life, and how I am having trouble preventing it.

The shield that you hold wears me thin,
It shoves me back quite aways.
I know if you faltered and gave me a pass,
You would always ask me to stay.
Nothing cracks this shield of yours,
All attempts are destined to fail.
Like trying to walk through a steel door,
Or flying with a windless sail.
Once in awhile you let down your guard,
With some shots or a couple of drinks.
But you always again make that shield hard,
And my strategies I have to rethink.
Helpless I feel, you’re hard to impress,
An inch I can’t get you to yield.
Failure it hurts, but there’s still hope I guess,
For cracking your always tough shield.
