Gossamer Lane
By: J. A. Stevens

A lady all in white
Moved through the lonley night
Down the street name of Gossamer Lane
Luna was she called
Townsfolk looked on appalled
As they did gape and peer out every pane

Watched as she walked by
For all well knew why
She would not lay quiet in her grave
But wanderin’ every night
Loudly weeping in her plight
For her poor lost children she would save

'Twas on a frigid even
That her babies Jen and Steven
Were consumed by the cruel and heartless flames
Out braving every man
into the burning house she ran
As she was frantically screaming out their names

Never again did she emerge
Then the flames began to surge
And the dwelling it fell down around the three
Now she wanders Gossamer Lane
Reliving nightly all her pain
Her anguished spirit ever longing to be free
