A song I co-wrote with Grace Sutherland, probably a piece I'm most proud of!

Happy

Italics = Male
Normal = Female

This weight on my back makes me slow as I run,
I can't keep it up, it's all too much to carry.
Maybe I'll try bein’ selfish, just once,
since it pays to be kind, but being happy ain’t free.

I’ve spent too many days in this restrictive box
always hidin’ behind a perfected smile
it just shouldn't be there! It’s not real enough,
but it won't be disappearing for a while

I close my eyes for just a second before I have to go,
Standing tall, I stare down in to your eyes.
I kiss that perfected smile from your face,
As you fall you love with my stories and lies.

I take to the street with a head full of stars,
I see us far away, the other side of this world.
I sit and wonder why I’m still here, maybe it’s ‘cos
it pays to be kind, but being happy ain’t free.
