I had it once

I had seen it up close

I had felt it for myself

Felt it from my head to my toes

I thought this was the very first time

But it had come close already

Her name was Aaliyah & she was my girl

We were going steady

But I didn’t see it at first

It escaped my sight

And by the time I realized.

It wasn’t worth the fight.

So I went looking again.

Cause I knew I would have it some day.

Took me a while but I thought I had.

In the form of a short girl named Sharvai.

I swear I saw it in her face.

When she smiled at me, I felt it everywhere.

When I made her laugh, I couldn’t help myself.

I just knew it was there.

And it was for me.

I loved her more than life.

But she had other plans.

And none of them included being my wife.

So I went looking again.

Hunting it down adamantly.

Then it just arrived when I was about to give up.

Her name was Veronica. Let’s call her V.

It was so close this time around.

I lived it, I breathed it

I dreamed it, I spoke it.

With her, I was never down.

It was indescribable.

How much I felt it.

She was my own personal drug

And I’d do anything in the world for another hit

But it started walking away again

I never thought I’d see the day

I realized what had happened.

It found me this time but it wasn’t here to stay.

So we ended

and in time I moved on

But I always asked myself

What went wrong.

But I’ve let it go now.

But I have a question.

Should I keep looking?

Or should I forget it?

One half wants me to keep going.

And the other half thinks he’s crazy.

But as a whole, I don’t think I’ll ever stop.

I won’t stop looking for my perfect lady.
