Love at first sight,

Could it take just a glance?

Can something so rare

Be so easily won?

In these convenient times

We want everything fast-

Happiness in a box: Television rocks;

Want youth in a tin? Try our beauty cream

-but some things cannot be rushed.

When I first saw you,

When you first caught my eye,

What I noticed at once

The second you walked by;

Was the red on your lips-

a frankly alarming hue

-Followed closely by

the toilet paper under your shoe.

I considered saying nothing

and keep moving on;

Just another passerby

Who'll soon be gone.

But I'm so glad that I

didn't let you walk by,

For I cannot imagine

a life without you;

Never knowing

That gorgeous blush,

That glorious laugh,

That gentle voice

that turns my brains to mush.

All those layers

time slowly unpeels,

As I sink deeper

 and then

Deeper still.

It wasn't love(?) at first sight;

definitely not.

No, it was something

much, much

better.
