The wind’s blowin’ through the trees. She’s coming right out of the woods, blowin’ your hair all in your face and in your eyes. You’re sittin’ there pickin’ on a little banjo.

They tell you that when the wind blows you can hear it talkin’ to ya. But she says she ain’t talkin’, she’s singin’ a song. They say you can hear it right there through the trees. She says you won’t hear a thing if you ain’t listenin’.

You set the little banjo down in the grass, and the wind keeps on singing. They tell you to sing along. She says you gotta learn to harmonize, says you gotta listen to the melody. She keeps on singing.

They hand you the little banjo and tell you to play along. She says you ain’t gotta play no banjo, says you gotta be one. She grabs that little banjo by the strings and chucks it right into the woods. Says you don’t need that little thing, don’t need nothin’ but your ears. Says you just gotta listen, gotta learn to harmonize.
