A poem inspired by the anxiety and panic attacks I suffer from.

White Flag

These thoughts

Racing through my head

Turning and turning

I can’t get up.

These thoughts

Paralyze my heart

Paralyze my soul

My legs feel trapped

Only my mind is free.

Free to wander

Free to dream

Yet, the places it wanders

Is to the sorrows

I thought were long forgotten

The dreams it idealizes

Are the dreams that will never be

My heart is heavy

My soul is troubled

I feel stuck,

Stuck in the deep,

Deep muddy waters that

My mind has been traversing through.

I try to shake the thoughts free, but

The waters turn to quicksand

They begin to swallow me whole.

I’m drowning,

Drowning,

Drowning,

With no hope.
