A Look At The Upcoming Round One Series Between (#2) Reading Royals & (#3) Brampton Beast! -GO ROYALS- -RAWWR OVER THE BEAST-

Eastern Conference Semi-Finals
By: Justin Strohm (WeBleedPurple)

#2 Reading Royals #3 Brampton Beast

For the first time in team history the Reading Royals and Brampton Beast will go head-to-head in the Kelly Cup Playoffs. The two teams met a total of three times during the 2016-2017 regular season with the series going 1-1-1 (1 in Reading, 2 in Brampton). The two teams both finished the season with 88 point but Reading had the tiebreaker so Reading finished 3rd in East & 2nd in North, while Brampton finished 4th in East and 3rd in North. This will be the eighth consecutive season Reading has made playoffs where as for Brampton this will be there first in their 2 year history in the ECHL. Both teams have a lot of offensive firepower so this one should be a good series with both teams having a chance to advance. These two teams only played one another just three times this season so game one may have some getting used to one another but coach MacDonald knows what the Beast has since of coarse he was on the bench with Courville this season. If Reading wants to advance in this series they will need their top 6 to produce and shut down Brampton’s fire weapons. Also if indeed coach MacDonald rides Dekanich, he will have to put on a show as he did this past season with 21 wins. A series that will be interesting and fun for sure and not one to miss.

#37 Johnny McInnis (F)

Steven Swavely (F) (Lehigh Valley)

#4 Maxim Lamarche (D)
#24 Tyrell Goulbourne (F)
#44 Reece Willcox (D)

Head Coach: Kirk MacDonald Assistant Coach: Ryan Cruthers
Affiliates: Philadelphia Flyers (NHL) & Lehigh Valley Phantoms (AHL)

Regular Season Record: (41-25-6)

Goalie Prediction: I would say for game one coach MacDonald will ride the reigning ECHL goaltender of the week in Mark Dekanich (21-12-4). I wouldn’t be shocked to see Ouellette though since he may not be here for awhile since Anthony Stolarz left last night’s Phantoms/Penguins game. The Dexshow will no doubt be on the air during these first few games if not the whole first round.

(Active Goaltenders)
#30 Andrew D’Agostini

#10 Daultan Leveille (F)
#24 Mike Folkes (D)

Head Coach: Colin Chaulk
Assistant Coach: Peter Goulet

Affiliates: Montreal Canadians (NHL) & St. Johns Ice Caps (AHL)

Regular Season Record: (40-24-8)

Goalie Prediction: My guess we will see the Canadians top goalie prospect Zach Fucale (25-12-4) in goal for this series. He has played the most games for the beast this season and has been their number one all season long. He did struggle in a few of his starts against Reading this season so look for that to be a major factor.
