Detective Jin Lee And The Cold Case

Monday, June 1st 2011: Today started out like any other day at the office. The Commissioner had us all briefed on the case we would be working for the next few days and then we were off.  My partner Peter and I were given a case that hasn't been touched in 17 years. So great i thought, we have another cold case thats been here longer then i have. Peter kept complaining that its our duty to make sure that this case gets the justice it deserves. Peter has always been a little to green for me but he is a good shot, and i know i can trust him completely. So far what i know about the case is that 17 years ago a woman named Alice reported a missing son by the name of  Alan Christopher. A body was never found but what was more strange is that  They could never I.D.. the person. There were no prints on record of the boy and the mother. Shortly after this they found the mother dead in her home with two incisions on her neck slicing the jugular vein open, there was blood smeared all over the wall. The Forensics team found out using U.V.Lights that under the blood there had been a small message scratched into the wood saying " Alice shouldn't have come out with information on Alan, She never understood the real plan and failed to cooperate with the terms she was given." To this day they don't know who killed Alice or what happened to Alan. "Sigh" this had been a lot to take in for me because of an accident when i was a child. I have little to no memory of the years 3-11 in my own life. At age twelve i was adopted by some nice folks who took care of me and helped me through my nightmares and flashbacks. Now at the ripe age of 27 I have been on the police force for 4 years and happily met the love of my life Lara. We have been together for almost 3 years and i couldn't be happier. Its been a long day so after grabbing some dinner with my fiancé Lara we headed home and went to bed. She passed out around 11:30 but i couldn't help but lay awake for another hour or so. Something about this case felt... familiar, the more i thought about it the more i started to come up with conspiracy theories about what may have happened. One of them must have hit pretty close to home because the last thing i remember was waking up screaming and lara was trying to calm me down. I'd had a strange flashback, but i couldn't tell if it was a memory or just my mind playing tricks on me. Once i had settled down me and lara went back to sleep, i dreamed of nothing but a terrifying man looming over me with a knife and a face covered in darkness. He didn't speak clearly or in complete sentences but there was one thing i could make out that he repeated over and over. " The mistakes you have made today will blossom into something that is beyond your control. Remember Alan all you have to do is Wake Up." The man put the knife closer to my face. I could feel the cold steel rub against my cheek. Fresh blood ran down as he started to cut into my face. "Alan Just WAKE UP" His voice began to raise in volume and in desperation. The Blood covered blade had almost finished an out line on my face, everything was warm and i felt like any minute i was going to pass out. Suddenly i felt... different like i wasn't my self anymore. The man peeled my face of and showed it to me in the light. But... it wasn't possible, that wasn't my face. The man peered at me from the darkness and stuck his head closer and it began to show in the light. My heart skipped a beat when i saw that the mans face was my own. I let out a scream but it sounded more like a cackle. i looked at my hands and in one was the bloody knife the other was a mans face. I looked back at the cowering man on the floor who seemed terrified. I simply whispered " Alan all you have to do is WAKE UP" and with that the knife came down on the mans head splitting it almost down the middle. I gasped for air as I awoke to a cold sweat. I looked around trying to regain my composure. Lara was still asleep next to me, The Clock read 4:58. I sprung up from my bed and ran to the bathroom to check my face. Not a scratch on me, it was fine everything had only been a dream. I let out a sigh of relief and started to turn to return to my bed when i caught something in the corner of my eye that made my blood run cold. In the reflection of the mirror i caught something written on the wall behind me. I spun around to read it and noticed it was red as blood. " Alan almost woke up last night Jin, it wont be long now."  suddenly i felt like i couldn't breathe. How did this person get in my house?, Did they Take anything? Is lara oka, before i could finish that thought i found myself running into our bedroom to make sure she was okay. She was still asleep, vitals seemed okay and she didn't look hurt. I noticed a small note next to her on our nightstand. It said Jin you better hope Alan doesn't wake up, it would be a shame if Lara ended up just like Alice... I wasn't sure if i was still dreaming or if any of this was really happening i knew i couldn't go back to sleep so I made sure the house was secure. All windows and doors were locked and i made myself a Cup of coffee. I wasn't sure what i had gotten myself into, all i know is whoever found out this cold case was reopened wants it to stay closed...
