Handstands forming on the grass,
Giggles all around.
But this moment soon will pass,
They’ll be lying on the ground.
These tiny, innocent girls,
Will be innocent girls no more.
When their gorgeous, natural curls,
Are straightened to the core.
Skip. Two. Three. Four,
Skipping, jumping, double-dutch.
This won’t happen anymore,
These ropes they will not touch.
Lipstick will be soon applied,
And nail-polish every day.
Hair regularly will be dyed,
And they’ll waste their life away.
Social networking will be the craze,
And chatting to boys at school.
No sooner will their life be ablaze,
Then they’re hooking up with a tool.
Boys will soon chat them up,
And these girls will fall for it.
They will screw them over, yup.
And they’ll fall straight down a pit.
Teenage-hood will consume them,
Claw them to the ground.
No longer will they be such gems,
Child-hood will not be found.
With none of this clogging up their minds,
These girls will thoughtlessly play.
For they know this will happen to them,
Just not right now; not today.
