Falling,in what seemed slow-motion, I could hear the echoing of their laughter, the fast beat of the music. Feeling the warm water hit my back, I panicked kicking and flinging my arms around trying to grab something to hold onto. Nothing. My screams were muffled by the water filling my mouth and seeping into my lungs.

“I can't swim” I cried but no-one moved in motion to help me, holding my breath, I stopped kicking and screaming. When I hit the bottom of the pool, that's when I knew I wouldn't be saved. The pounding in my head was like being hit in the head with a baseball bat, I wanted to cry and scream, but it didn't matter because no-one would hear. The water wanted me to surrender, to let it in, I knew I couldn't, that would be the easy way out and I kept telling myself 'you're a fighter, fight' but I knew I was lying, I couldn't fight this, it was impossible.

Okay on the count of three.

Finally ready to give in.

Heart beating faster and faster.

My head exploding.

Letting my lips part, the water came flooding in, filling my lungs, pushing out every last piece of oxygen. That's when I realised the thumping in my head had stopped, it didn't hurt any-more, it was peaceful.

Slowly, I got sleepier and sleepier and my eye-lids slid closed. I had given into the water, took the cowards way out.

It was finally over.
