Karma

Can I tell you a story?
About a maiden in all her glory
Who was destroyed before the summer of ’40.

She was a gem, beautiful but also tough
A true diamond in the rough
Her courage was anything but a bluff.

She went out walking
Behind, her killer came a-stalking
No one noticed, for people had no time for gawking

He killed her and as she died without bleeding
The world grew stiller once she stopped breathing
Her flesh he finally quit beating

And at long last he left her, her body left strewn on the path
His anger finally gone now that he had exercised his wrath
Until all at once a tree crashed, silencing his wicked laugh

And erased him from the world,
Leaving her soul once more unabashed.
