I walked through the woods

Not so long ago

I saw a wolf in the trees

So I crouched down low

Aimed the gun with my shaking hands

I was afraid, I was not to know

The animal saw

As I slowly stood

The gun rattle in my hands

She stayed still as wood

Unnerved, I got ready to shoot

When she spoke as softly as she could

"Why must you shoot me?"

She asked me

And I froze, she had spoken!

I said quietly

"Your kind kill my kind, you're a beast."

"Your kind are the beasts, not mine." Said she

Confused and surprised,

I asked the wolf why

And she looked at me sadly

"You wish me to die."

"You'd kill me you menace," said I

"You are the menace, not me," said she

"You hunt us for sport

You murder our prey

Yout think of none but your own

You think it's okay!

Now you listen, can you not see?

You are the monster, not me." said she
