Blank eyes stare into empty space

An empty mind to match the place

Burnt out buildings and crunched up cars

Concrete walls block out the stars

Who is this man that nobody sees

Shoved in a corner with rats and fleas?

A damp cardboard box owned not by his name

Left out in the night for losing this game.

He once had a life a lot like yours

In a nonedescript home with working doors

He was once recognised by the law

As a person with rights they could not ignore.

Under the bridge is where he resides

Hoping for hope but saying goodbye.

He now has no name there he remains

Hidden away and forgotten again.
