"I’m not ready to give her up; I’m not letting her go."

Nakakairita ang mga taong pumupunta sa bahay, mga designer, caterer at wedding organizer.

Yes, I am getting married, after all the hardship I finally decided to settle down kasama ang pinakamamahal kong babae, Kristine yun ang kanyang pangalan. We love each other so much kaya nalampasan namin ang halos pitong taon na relasyon. It was a month away from our wedding day and people are busy preparing for it and I want it to be the perfect wedding for her.

And then something happen, Kristine called me late at night and she’s telling me that she got a bad headache, and I can tell how much pain she felt in the way she speak a word. Agad akong pumunta sa kanyang bahay and when I opened the door all I can hear was silence. I ran upstairs and I saw my love lying in the floor unconscious. I’m so worried so I brought her to the hospital.

I was spacing out when suddenly the doctor came out in the emergency room. Tinanong niya ako if Kristine felt that pain before, I worriedly answered no. I starred in the face of the doctor and I can see in his face that my fiancée is not okay, and then the doctor frankly told me,” Sorry child your fiancée have a brain tumor and it’s nearly terminal”. I want to run away, gusto kong magtago, hindi ko alam kung anu ang gagawin ko, hindi ko alam kung makakaya ko lampas an ang pagsubok na’to. I asked the doctor kung may paraan pa para malunasan ang sakit ni Kristine, and the doctor said she can get through an operation or chemo therapy but he cannot assured a success. In her hospital bed, I saw her face, her lips were so pale and I could tell she was in great pain.

But when she opened her eyes, I saw no pain but courage instead and I finally made up my mind that lalaban ako, lalaban ako para sa kanya at para sa aming dalawa.

After few weeks, I was surprised Kristine arrived in my office. I asked her if she was alright but she didn’t replay, she just simply came closer to me and kiss my lips. She said:” Hindi na daw siya makapaghintay sa aming kasal at bakit ang tagal ng dalawang lingo”. It was our first happy time together since she was diagnosed of having cancer, I try not mention any pain or anything about her illness, I want to make it one of our memorable days together but she ended up telling me words I don’t want to hear: “My dear, I know my sickness and I know I have only few months left but when I’m gone I want you to marry someone I choose for you.” Nagtaka ako she want me to marry someone na pipiliin nya para sakin. Something like she’s giving me to someone else but I’m not ready to give her up, I will not letting her go.
