The colour of blood cloaks the skies as roses fall like rain. They dissolve into the ground, enveloping the grass beneath my feet with the stench of rotten creatures. My tears overflow, diffusing into the air like smoke from a cigarette.

My legs begin to tire, losing every ounce of motor skill left in this god forsaken body. I re-enact the events that led to this moment as the back of my head hits the ground. I turn to face the white plastic bag which is now dancing in the wind. Chocolates and flower stems coat the sidewalk.

As the asshole jiggles my wallet out of my back pocket, i hear him panting, scurrying like a raccoon through trash. The tapping of his feet dissolves into the night as my eyes turn to face the stars. My hands quiver over the void that has now replaced my heart.

Red roses cease to flow as the stars begin to fade.
