For one night of ecstasy,
I must atone,
With a lifetime of lamentation
For my lifeless lover,
But it would never be enough.

As a symptom of our short-lived delight,
She died.
My inamorata,
And my world died too.

Carry her away, deathly river.
Lead the departed to the land beyond.
Cure this affliction,
Claim my life as well

Stagnant, putrefying body
Wretched, petrifying beauty

Even in death,
I hear her serene voice
Comforting and strong
Even in death,
I see her unclouded eyes
And I know,
My soul will never be free…
