I'm not really sure where it came from, but I like it so I thought I'd post it.

For all my conflicting emotions,
I don't have the words.
All I can tell you
Is that I must choose whether or not to fly.

To leap from the tower of convention,
Leave behind chains of custom and tradition,
Time to fly free,
In a clear blue sky
That's made up of adventure and challenge,
And new tomorrows.

I stand at a fork in my path.
To one side lies desperation
In the life I've known.
To the other a path of hope,
Love and adventure lie here.
Though to take this path,
I must leave everything but you.

I shall take the path of desperation,
Live a life of mild happiness
And only love,
When with the nerve to take the other path
I should have experienced
Delirium and passion.

But delirium cannot last forever,
Passion is but fleeting.
Whilst I am youthful, you'll provide these,
But age would prove a coolant.

Happiness can plod its way
Through years and years and years.
Whilst love can shine
A whole life long
And never dull or fade.

I'm not stupid enough to trust you,
Or vain enough to think
I'm different from all your other girls.
My only crime is to love you.

And for a time,
You would love me.
Until another caught your eye,
You'd move on,
And I would have to pick up the remains
Of a life which jumped,
Only to discover it could not fly.
