Dreamland and Reality

As the sun sinks beyond the horizon

And ends my work filled day

I slip away to paradise

As my mind fills with the gray

A soft, sweet, soothing light

Of pink, purple, and blue

Soon greets me with open arms

Crafting my body and soul anew

I meander through the fragrant fields

And meadows filled with snow

Whomever I desire to be'

My dreamland makes me so

Be it a wizard, a dragon

A emperor, or a pirateer

I become strong and heroic

There is no such thing as fear

As I soar through the misty sky

I feel myself grin

The fun has hardly started

It has yet to even begin

When night comes at last

I wish upon a star

May reality stay at a distance

Such as this, forever far

But my wish is not heeded

And at my ceiling I now stare

Once again, tossed back

To the real world, without a care

With mournful tears flowing

I rise to the chime of the bell

Compared to my dreamland

This hollow world is hell

No one truely cares

And I work a day of strife

How bitter when one's delusions

Become sweeter than real life

I shall go on as before

And yet I see no wrong

In living each day, thoughtlessly,

To return to the dreamland that I belong
