It's like
I can finally breathe
My lungs are no longer
On the verge of collapsing
The weight I have been holding
Never really was there to begin with
The person I am
You not only let me forget
But cherish
As if she is not a burden
A hindrance
But a beauty
An idol
A gift.
It's like
Sitting down
After hours of peril
Of fear
And testing
And taking the breath
That stops your rattling ribs
Your small, unnoticeable quivering,
Your brain finally slowing down enough
To think things through
With relief.
It's like
Knowing that everything will be alright
That the light at the end of the tunnel
Isn't everything
But you could go there
With ease
If you wanted to;
Knowing that
You could go anywhere
If you wanted to.
It's like
Falling asleep
And waking
Only never to know
Which was the dream
And which was reality.

Yeah.
That's what it feels like
When you just look at me.
