born of a shadow, the rush and the air,

the beast stormed on by,  heaving with exhaust,

the pane reflecting the his glassy, blank stare,

drowned from the learning of life's damned cost.

the people behind passed by, in a trance,

ignoring his fleeting glances within

unrecognizing; the pupils' dear dance,

for who was the man who stared back at him?

the beast left behind him pondering truth-

glancing across at his self-earned mission,

with white stripes glaring through the solemn few

who dare walk across their self-earned prison.

the reflection had left, as had the pain,

but scars that he saw forever remain.
