i just want to think
and be all alone
to listen to myself
without pain being shown
but the people downstairs
they just won’t be quiet
while the earth holds its breath
on this thin black night.
the cars are too fast
they’re beating me, still
making me indulge in my wonders
giving in to my will.
they’re too loud, too loud
when they speak to me
they’re there with themselves
but only i can see
who they are, what they do
in the careless, long night
people think i’m yelling at a wall
when we get into a fight
just leave me alone
i just want to think
to make sure that i’m sane
and i’m not on the brink
of the crazy, the weird,
the slightly odd, wild,
this can’t be happening to me,
i’m just a child…
without a father or mother
on a journey to normality
but the voices, they say
to skip the formality.
in a wet, damp corner
i speak to my thoughts
tell me why it is so and what’s wrong
the goods and the nots.
i rock myself to sleep
but they’re too loud as they moan
all i want is my sanity;
please leave me alone.
