every time you just look at me

i ache to ask ‘what do you see:

the person i am currently,

or the person whom i want to be?’

oh, but they say it doesn’t matter,

despite what i say does,

apparently it’s all about my past

who i am is who i was.

my journey is pain and terror

there’s no light at the end

there’s no shelter, no comfort,

no guidance, no friend.

so technically, i am this monster

i am no smile and no solice,

and if there is anyone like me,

not even pain will control us.

birthed to the shadows

and raised by the dark,

one of the few

who’s skin is of marks.

i’m sick of the mirror,

of reaching the bars,

the only beautiful thing about me

by this logic, is my scars.

every time you just look at me

i ache to ask ‘what do you see?’

because my past isn’t me currently,

or even who i want to be.
