We are the Golden Children

We are the Golden Children playing in the morning sun.

We mock the weaker spirits trailing dimly in our glow.

We kick behind us clouds of dust and bone along the way.

Our laughter echoes through the woods where trees no longer grow.

The lone surviving race of man has naught to show to Day.

We are the Golden Children hacking blindly at the fear.

We squint and blink and look around unable to perceive.

We swing and cleave with fury from the pits of Hell below.

Our terror fueling thoughts insane—unable to believe.

The lone pervading instinct beckons cowardice to show.

We are the Golden children bleeding slowly on the ground.

We try to will our legs to stand unsure that this is real.

We must accept the Truth in time—our Heart’s most fatal cry.

Our eyes are dull and hazed with Death, our limbs no longer feel.

The sole internal aim of man,

To Shout and Pray and never die!

To Shout and Pray and never die!

We are the Golden Children rolling over in our graves.

We curse the Past for knowing all that we became in life.

We know at last the meaning of the suffering and pain.

Our longing and our hunger knows no bounds of mortal strife.

The lone mirage of peace in Death has fooled us once again.
