dramatic shifts

When the young girl erred

She wept and cried

Though t'was not very oft

For she'd little to hide

But there's a line so fine

'Tween maturity's progression

And innocence's

Somber procession

For gone are the angelic days,

Absent are her innocent ways

And in her place

A rebellious teen

Neither angel nor devil

Nor something between

She gives false accounts

And utters fluent curse

Her moral degradation

Has made her perverse

Her facade of guilt

Is an ingenius disguise

For her fear she'll be exposed

In her secrets and her lies

Her mind is polluted

Its contents are waste

They're the byproducts of

Maturity's haste

A glance over each

Shoulder she throws

Out of fear that someone

Somehow knows

That when she looks in the mirror

The person she sees

And the person she was

Are distinct entities
