Things I hate about you

''Lainey Painey.'' Landon's voice shrilled in to my ear making me jump. ''Oh god'' I rolled my eyes at my greek-god of an enemy. He grinned at me reaching out to pull my cheeks but I slapped his hand away immediately.

Landon stuck his upper lip out and widened his hazelnut eyes making my heart immediately go out for him. His puppy dog face melted anyone, even someone with a stone cold heart would've given a little hint of sympathy to this adorable devil.

''Not falling for that.'' I lied trying to hide my urge to reach out and hug him. Landon laughed,it was a small giggle but my heart lurched at his cuteness. What was wrong with me?

This was my enemy I was thinking about! The one who accidently-on-purpose put itching-powder in my costume in Year 3, the one who had put a worm in my sandwich....I was NOT going to be falling for someone I hated like in some cliche romance story.

I hated Landon.

''You hate me?'' He asked, twitching an eyebrow. I blushed, oops I must've thought that last bit out loud. I was such an absent-minded idiot sometimes. Nevertheless, I nodded at Landon poking my tongue out.

''Yes Landon, I hate you.'' I replied staring at him as seriously as I could. He stared back at me and suddenly leaned in, oh...my god. I could feel his breath against mine as our lips came closer and closer...I was going to kiss Landon!! Yes, Landon the guy I hated!

Burp!

I pushed Landon away in disgust, he had just burped on me. I rubbed my lips hard while Landon doubled up. I glared at him angrily.

''I knew you weren't really kissing me, I was going to burp on you too.'' I hastily added to my glare.

Wow, real smooth, Elaine, real smooth.

''Yeah sure.'' Landon smirked making me feel even more embarrased. I could be a bad liar sometimes.

''I hate you.'' I muttered looking down at the ground. My stomach gave a loud grumble as Landon replied, ''Too bad the feeling's not mutual.''

I looked at him in surprise as he smiled at me, a soft smile. ''I love you Elaine.''

No, no, no!

''I...I....I.'' I muttered, my mouth feeling dry. Did I love him back?

''I hate you, you're just joking right? Right?!'' I shook his arm but he shrugged. ''You hate me?'' He squeaked. Did I? I must've nodded because his shoulders drooped down.

There was an awkward silence. Suddenly, Landon gave a click of his tongue. He always did that when he had an idea. ''You hate me right? Well, I've got an idea.''

Oh no, Landon and ideas should always stay away from each other. Like, really.

''We'll take turns to tell what we hate about each other. The one with more reasons wins...and gets a kiss.'' He gave a sly smile and I grimaced. ''But it wouldn't make a difference, No way am I kissing you-'

'Fine, if I win then I'll kiss you, if you win-'

I stopped him with a delighted squeal, ''If I win, I'll get to slap you in front of everyone at class!''

He winced at this but nodded reluctantly, ''Fine''

''You start.'' I said, I was so going to win, I had hated him since...before time. I had too many reasons for him to beat me.

''I hate the way you laugh.'' Landon said making me blush. I gave him a slight shove.

''I hate the way you strut around as if you own the place'' I replied making Landon snort.

We walked along the corridors continuing with our silly 'hate' game. So far, it was a tie.

''I hate your hair''

''I hate your know-it-all attitude..''

We reached a lonely part of the school corridors. ''I hate it when you tickle me.'' I carried on, Landon smiled. Uh oh, I shouldn't have said that. He reached out and obviously (that unoriginal git) started tickling me. ''Stop it!'' I squealed as he tickled my sides.

''It's opposite day baby!'' He whispered sending shivers down my body. ''Ok...fine....then...don't...stop..'' I gasped, tears of laughter pouring out of my eyes. ''Wait! Opposite day was yesterday! You don't want me to stop? Yes, mam!'' Landon laughed evilly while I was struggled from his tight grasp.

Suddenly I tripped ,making me fall hard on my back. WITH LANDON ON TOP OF ME.

We froze and our smiles vanished as our gazes locked. ''Your turn'' I whispered. Landon blinked, ''I hate the fact that I love you.''

I gulped, how much was that? Landon had 7 reasons while I had...I had 6. One more and we'd be on a tie. I opened my mouth to speak but not so much as even a squeak came out.

''I guess I win then?'' Landon whispered. I rolled my eyes.

''Shut up and kiss me'' I said running my fingers through his hair which I guess was not so bad after all.

And he did just that.

*The end*
