What if I told you that you couldn’t be with the one that you love?

What if, to be with them you had to sacrifice yourself?

Would you?

Are they worth it?

This is a story about two people that have to give up everything that they know to be with one another.

Two people, let’s call them Mark and Elouise. They met, they talked, they fell in love. But for them it isn’t as easy as it seems.

They met online, by chance, Elouise put up a post which Mark stumbled upon immediately. They became friends, with one hitch. Elouise was in a committed relationship of six years. She was young, her relationship was falling down and no matter what she tried, the love was failing. Mark saw through her rough exterior. He forced her to see her true feelings about the situation, about her so called ‘loving’ relationship, where no-one else helped her. For her, she had taken a back seat for the past six years, she was pushed to the side, where everyone around her was in love, with the person she was also supposed to love. Everyone that is, except Mark. He saw the truth of the lies she told, he saw through the haze and could see the situation with crystal clarity.

After one month of talking, Elouise decided that she had had enough of her relationship. She was falling for Mark. He was everything that she had wanted, but had sacrificed for the comfortable option. She had given up her dreams. Her wants. Her needs. Just for him. But Mark, he was different. He encouraged her to be who she was, be the person that she wanted to be, the one that she lost many years ago.

After she made the life changing decision, her life became a turmoil. She was homeless, she was alone, and there was no light at the end of the tunnel.

Mark was on the other side of the world, she had to figure everything out herself.

Through sheer determination, she found somewhere to live and she was putting her life back on track. There was only one issue, she was still alone.

However much Mark tried, she still felt lost and alone. There was no-one to hold her hand at night, to be her shoulder to cry on. She was by herself, in her despair.

After a few more life altering events, another move, a shaky friendship established with her previous love, and the possibility of Mark coming to see her, she thought she was getting back to her old self. Until the time came for him to get on the plane. Panicking, she realised that she wasn’t ready. What if he came and she changed her mind? What if she wasn’t good enough? What if it was different in person to online? Once again, her world came crumbling down around her, and this time, it was her fault.

After long and arduous conversations, Mark understood, he understood that she wasn’t ready, that she needed time to heal, and this had to be done by herself.

A few more months passed and she was finally ready. She had done the soul searching required. She was finally ready to be Mark’s other half.

However, this decision was not a small one. Their troubles had only just begun. From here, there is problem after problem. Money, location, and family. Their relationship is far from easy, each having to sacrifice, a small part of themselves to make their love work. All the time wondering, why is this so hard?

They knew that they were right for each other, from the first time that Elouise saw Mark, she knew he was the one. The one that she wanted to spend the rest of her life with. He was her star in the sky. The light in the dark. The air that she breathes. She is willing to give up her life, her family, her home for him.

So, to answer your questions, yes she would.
