The poem speaks for it's self. Why do we go to God after we've done wrong. This is something I wrote years ago. In fact I forgot about it. my son found in in an old file cabinet he was moving from the basement to the curb to be giving away to the Purple Heart. He thinks I should shair this with our reply was "I don't think so He may want to know what I did that promt me to write the poen in the first place!" Of couse my Son wanted to know that as well and all I could say was "How would you like to go out to lunch today?" He never asked again about the poem.

Have you forgotten me?

Why do you allow us to sin?

Causing loved ones pain that won't end.

Why don't you stop us?

Hit us with a lighting bolt

Shake us real hard, giving us a jolt.

You know when we are about

o break your Law's and Word.

Why is it so hard for us to cry out

Feelings tempted and weak to

Give you a shout.

We wait and run to you

After we've done wrong.

Admitting that we aren't very strong.

Knowing in our hearts that you were there all along!

You bring up good questions that are relevant to all who believe in God. Life can be very confusing and scary sometimes. We need faith to get through the hard times. Good poem.

Thank you. Some times it's hard to deal with life on life's terms. If you don't have faith you don't have much of anything as far as I can see. Just my opion.

The elder poet

Very well written.I read your bio. You have been through so much. My son says that when we get older that we need someone or something to look for to comfort us . As in God. But I know that he watches over us all the time. I'm so sorry for your losses. We write best when we are in dire need . A way to get out the pain. Release the feelings bottled up inside us. You say you are fifty. You have such a long way to go.
To rant is to release. lol. I'm new to this site. I like it very much. I also have a blog with some of my pictures and more poetry. You might want to check them out.( thomas bartons poetry and pictures) on blogger .com. there are a couple erotic poems there. But for the most part just poems about my life. Keep putting more of your work on this site. I added you as a fan .I see you added me. thank you. You have a good day .

Sounds to me you are pretty strong. Good you can reach out to God in time of need ... being totally irreligious, I would have liked to have believed.

Absolutely true...A tendency we all have faced at one time or another...blaming on him when the choice has been ours...Great, great wake up call...Keep them coming...

Very true. I have never thought about that. Perhaps we do it because we never consider that He is there, watching us, and then we do what WE want, not what God wants. Then we realise that we messed up. I dont know why. That's just a guess. :-/ I guess only He knows the answer, and that's just one of the many questions we will have to ask Him when we meet Him.

This touched a closed off part in my heart. This poem is exactly how my issues with believing has occurred. I can't say I believe now but I know the fight for faith isn't easy. Beautiful. Gets a like from me!

Life is confusing and hard at times and we need to believe in something to help us get trough those times. There are many questions we don't and probably won't, find the answer to. Everyone goes through these times, some more than others.
Good poem and well written. :)
