I wrote this a long time ago but never posted it. enjoy!

I know of a story,
Of a man so alone,
Who in his mind had it all,
Then lost the only love he’d known,

Each day he wakes up,
To an empty bed,
He pours another drink,
To try and clear his head,

He goes through the motions,
As the days drag on,
Trying to understand,
And accept that she’s gone,

Days turned to months,
Months into years,
Happiness turned to sorrow,
Laughter into tears,

There are so many people out there,
To share in great times,
He can find someone else,
And forget her this time,

But when he thinks about love,
All he sees is the end,
Why all he sees is her leaving,
He can’t comprehend,

To him love is hopeless,
And he has her to blame,
She wrecked his world,
Left him in sorrow and shame,

Now he hides from love,
And all who may care,
Because she won’t happen again,
He can’t face the despair,

So when someone gets close,
All he can do is hide,
Because when she walked out,
He died inside.
