When wading in the mysterious waters of a relationship, how do you know if your partner is simply obsessed or in love? Truthfully, is there even an answer? Resting upon millions of unasked questions and theories, I created this poem as a display of my understanding of the matter. I hope it strikes your interest.

Love is a butterfly

A speck of eye-catching yellow

Dancing sweetly with the wind’s current

Obsession is a pesky fly

A bland splotch

Jerking vigorously from left to right

Love is a quiet lake

A peaceful escape

Flowing gently amidst the creatures

Obsession is a raging flood

A hammering plow

Drowning its dwellers in murky water

Love is a rain forest

A gracious symphony

Gliding with the musical measures

Obsession is a flaming field

A crackling prison

Engulfing peace in its boiling heat
