The Killings
It is a dark and stormy night. In a small secluded self governed village nestled in a deep valley a young woman is walking home from work. She suspects that there is man following her. But every time she turns around there is no one behind her. She begins to walk faster as she approaches the alleyway that leads to her front door. All of the sudden she hears foot steps behind her. She quickly turns around, but there is no one behind her. She starts running to her front door at the end of the alley. She can still hear the foot steps behind her. When she gets to her front door she looks over her shoulder and sees a man running towards her. She reaches into her purse and grabs her keys. As she is fumbling to find the right key the man grabs her and uses chloroform to knock her out. A week later everyone in the village is at the young woman’s funeral except a man name Vincent Mancini. When the funeral is over a man and a woman are walking down the road to there house. The woman says “I can’t believe what happened no one deserves to die like that.” The man says “I know. I mean to be crucified is bad enough but to have the letter A carved into your head after words… whoever did this is sick just sick. As they walk by Vincent house you can see him standing in front of his window cleaning off a bloody knife.
It has been one month since the young woman was murdered. It is a beautiful sunny Saturday afternoon. Vincent is on his way to the general store to pick up a few items. When he arrives at the store the owner says “Hello Vincent. Beautiful day it isn’t it?” Vincent says “Yeah it’s a wonderful day Charlie. I hope it is like this tomorrow for your daughters wedding.” Charlie says “Yeah so do I. I would hate for it to be rained out.” Vincent says “Yeah that would be a shame.” Then a man named Father Martin Brown walks into the store and says “Hello gentlemen, fine day isn’t it.” “Yes it is” says Charlie and Vincent. Father Martin moves to the back of the store as he looks around. Vincent brings some rope, a blade sharpener and some duct tape to the counter. Charlie says is this everything Vincent?” Vincent says “Yeah that should do it for today.” Then a little boy around seven years old walks into the store and looks up at Charlie and smiles. Charlie smiles back and the boy goes over to the candy isle and waits for Charlie to look away and then he grabs two handfuls of hard candy and then runs out of the store. Vincent looks at the boy leaving as he shakes his head. Vincent says “Didn’t you see that?” Charlie says “Yes I saw him; I will have to have a talk with his mother later.”Vincent says “Well I guess I will see you next week Charlie.” “Yep see you next week” says Charlie. The next morning the young boy’s head is found jammed on a spear which is part of a statue in the town center. The rest of his body is missing except for his hands which were cut off and nailed to the general store door. Everyone in town is shocked that someone would kill and brutally mutilate such a young boy.
Three weeks have passed since the young boy was murdered.
Father Martian is in his office with a couple having marital problems. Father Martian is offering them advice on how to get through there problems. Father Martian says “Okay Cindy why don’t you tell me some of the problems that you two are having. Cindy says “There is only one problem and that is Chet cheated on me with this whore name Cynthia Fuller!” Father Martian says “Okay, Chet did you commit adultery and cheat on you wife?” Chet says “Yes I did. But I already told her it will never happen again.” Chet looks over to Cynthia and says “I love you Cynthia and it was just a moment of weakness.” Cynthia says to Chet “How do I know you won’t do it again? How can I trust you again?” Father Martian says “You two will have to work together to rebuild your trust for him, and in time you will get through this and will be happy again.” Vincent is sweeping up the floor outside of father Martian’s door and is eavesdropping on their meeting. Father Martian sees Vincent sweeping the same spot for several minuets and says “Vincent, will you shut my door please?” Vincent says “Um, yeah sure no problem.” “Thank you Vincent” says Father Martian. Vincent looks at the couple as he is shutting the door and nods and smiles at them. Two days later Chet’s body is nailed to a cross in the town center with his heart cut out and his penis cut off. Next to him on another cross is Cynthia Fuller, her heat is also cut out and her legs are tied together.
Later that week a woman named Teresa goes to the police and says “I know who is been killing all of these people, its Vincent Mancini. I saw him at the church eavesdropping on a marriage counseling session for Chet and Cynthia Johnson. And I also saw him in the general store were that young boy was last seen. In both cases he was the last person to see the victims alive. The police go straight to Vincent’s house. They break down the door and then throw Vincent to the ground. Vincent says “What the hell is going on!” the officer who tackled him punches him in the face and says “Shut up you sick freak! You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law you have a right to an attorney if you can not afford one, one will be provided to you. Do you understand these rights as I have read them to you?” Vincent says “Yes I understand.” The next day Vincent is put on trial. The whole town in attendance to see what will happen and to make sure that justice is swift and severe. Judge Harris say “Order… order! Bring in the defendant.” Vincent walks into the court room with his hands and feet shackled together. Judge Harris says “Please call forth the witness. State your name.” Teresa says “My name is Teresa McCormick” Judge Harris says “Now please tell this court what you saw.” Teresa says “I saw Vincent Mancini at the church eavesdropping on a marriage counseling session for Chet and Cynthia Johnson. And I also saw him in the general store were that young boy was last seen. In both cases he was the last person to see the victims alive.” Judge Harris says “Is this true Vincent?” Vincent says “Yes but I swear that is just a coincidence!” Judge Harris says “So are you admitting that you were in fact the last person to see those victims alive?” Vincent says “Yes I am admitting to being one of the last people to see them alive. But I am not admitting to murder!” Judge Harris says “We must stop these killings. So Vincent I believe you are lying to us and I do believe you committed these murders. So I am sentencing you to immediate death my firing squad. Bailiff, bring him to the town center and tie him to the post.” “No please no I swear I didn’t kill anyone! Please you have to believe me!” Says Vincent in a panicked voice. Vincent is brought to the town center and tied to a wooden post. A few hours later the whole town gathers to witness his execution. Five men line up with rifles facing Vincent. Judge Harris says “Vincent do you have any thing you would like to say to us… or to God?” Vincent says “Please listen to me you have the wrong guy. I never killed anyone!” Judge Harris says “I hope you burn in Hell murderer!” FIRE! Meanwhile in a small log cabin in the woods. Father Martin is standing at a table sharpening a long knife. Teresa is lying on the floor tied up. Father Martin walks up to her and says “Do you have anything to say for yourself?” Teresa says “Please don’t kill me! I haven’t done anything wrong. “More lies!” Says Father Martin. Teresa says “What do you talking about when did I lie?” Father Martin says “Vincent was not the killer. So you lied to the police, and to the court. So now you must die. Teresa says as she begins to cry “Please no, I promise I won’t do it again.” Father Martin takes the large knife with two hands and raises it over his head. Teresa is crying and says “No. please. No! No!” As Father Martian plunges the knife into heart he says “Die sinner!”
