I try to be honest

I try to be true

I try to love my baby

the way you want me to

why wont my heart let me

follow my heads plea

to be the kind of mother

all women strive to be

I want to open up my heart

to this child im told is mine

but all my head keeps saying

is that not all is well and fine

Put the baby to your breast

is what they all do say

and all I really want to do

is scream and run away

Is my life a lie now

and do i have to leave

because I dont understand now

why anyone loves me

I cant love a baby as beautiful as this

then I am not someone they are likely to miss

Keep him safe and love him well

Hes better off with you

Now isnt it just lucky

I have the three day blues!

All this will be over in a day or two

but for some, postnatal depression

is really coming through

So when your feeling lonely

or really feeling blue

speak to a doc or midwife

or just someone close to you.
