This is the first poem I've ever written. Finding the right words to get my feelings out was a little tough, but ultimately, I feel better now.

As we sit on my porch, I find I’m unable to look into your eyes

I want to scream, but instead, I keep my mouth shut

I look around frantic

To see anything but your eyes is my objective

I yearn to see the stars but my porch blocks them

You try everything to get me to believe you

You know you’ve always been good with words

But this time I won’t bring myself to let your deception creep in and save my heart

I think now I’d rather let it break

I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to glimpse through those deceitful eyes

You pull me closer, but I feel a sudden pang of disgust

Please just get in your car and leave

Before I let you save my heart
