Cyndia Green is a sixteen year old girl who is schooling in East High school. She is the only child in her family and her parents are separated. Her mother is running the whole family while her grandparents take care of Cyndia while she goes out to work. Cydia’s pet is eleven years old dog called Tom. He is very friendly with everyone including strangers.

The East High School is a mix school. Each student is allowed to select six subjects apart from the general subjects. They receive meals three times a day which is provided by the school and they charge it from the annual school fee which is not allowed to be paid as season wise but only as an annum.  Cyndia spends time at school with her best friend Annie and her boyfriend Harry. She enjoys every moment she can spend time with her best friend but she feels lonely because Annie most of the time spent the day with Harry and not with her anymore.

For the summer fall a new student came to their school from France. But he is a mix like mix fruit because her mother is French while his father is British. Gideon Cross is a cute, hot and sexy guy whose appearance is very attractive to girls. All the girls melt from his gaze and his sexy smile. He was taken to the swimming team and basketball team without trials as he is one of the best athletes in France in his school and has received many awards apart from gold medals.

Cyndia, Annie and Harry on the first day morning, which was a Monday, didn’t even notice that a new guy has arrived until they saw that the only space left was gone. Still they did not bother to even check who it is. During the Math class Cyndia found someone tapping on her shoulder and distracting her. She turned around and so Gideon with a big smile. As their Math teacher, Mr. Hardy, was very strict, Cyndia didn’t want to get caught speaking to him. So she gave a question like look at him. Fortunately Gideon understood why she gave such a look and asked simply for an extra pencil.

During lunch time, Cyndia found Annie talking to Harry all the time about Prom they have on Wednesday. Both of them were excited to spend the night together because Annie’s parents don’t let her go for dinner dates with Harry. They started to talk all sorts of topics including Annie’s dress which Harry was so eager to find out how Annie looked like when she wore it. Cyndia found their flirting very gross so she went to pick up something to eat after leaving her favourite story book on the table.

Cyndia picked up a plate and checked what was there in the food table. Bacon and eggs, smashed potatoes, different kinds of salads, cold ham and other meat slices, boiled potatoes with cream and parsley, fruit salads, etc. The food was so mouth watery so Cyndia had a hard time to decide what she will eat with macaroni with cream. Without her knowledge Cyndia had been standing for two minutes starring at food while Gideon has been right next to her.

“Hey! Why are you starring at food for such a long time?  Hard to imagine what to eat?” asked Gideon casually.

“Hi! I didn’t see you.” replied Cyndia surprised to see him. This was the last thing she expected to happen. She hate when people see her starring at food trying to figure out what she want to eat.  Especially it’s embarrassing to be spotted by guys. She knew her face was red hot due to embarrassment and what’s worse when every year beauty queen sees it too.

“Hey Gideon! Wanna join us? We have a free chair just for you.” said Bertha, every year drama queen. Her flirting was too much that Cyndia feeling gross and left out.

“Hi Bertha! I wish I could but I already promised somebody else that I would join for lunch. Sorry.” said Gideon.

“Are you planning to have lunch with Never Asked Out? Then you must have made a terrible mistake.” said Bertha folding her hands around her chest leaving her plate on the table. Her curious look annoyed Gideon but he didn’t want to make a scene because he felt it’s like playing with fire.

“Who is Never Asked Out? What kind of nick name is that?” asked Gideon curiously.

“The girl you are talking to. Cyndia is called Never Asked Out because every other girl has been asked out by a guy. Anyway who would want to go out with Miss Weirdo? She is not at all romantic and always reads books.” said Bertha with wicked smile drawn on her face.

“Well, just because she wasn’t asked out by anyone doesn’t mean that she is not pretty or so. Besides she looks attractive to me and pretty. I like to spend time with her and I don’t think she is a book worm.” said Gideon defending Cyndia. His sudden reaction not only surprised Bertha but also Cyndia who thought Gideon would stop talking to her. Bertha was furious with Gideon and walked away while Cyndia murmured thank you for defending her to him.

“You’re Welcome. Wanna grab some lunch and talking about something?” asked Gideon wearing the sexy smile just like the one he gave when he asked her for an extra pencil.  They served their food silently and when to sit at a fully vacant table.

Gideon sensed the tension in Cyndia from her behaviour so he sat silently letting her to relax. Just after they sat down to have lunch, Gideon’s cell phone vibrated. Cyndia could tell that it was a call from someone who he didn’t even expect. Gideon excused and started talking in French.

Gideon kept quiet for a while after the call and then started to peal. It was a mere introduction conversation between them.

“So what do you do during the leisure time? Are you in the cheerleading thing?” asked Gideon.

“When I’m all alone I just read books and listen to the radio. What about you?”

“I read crime fiction… you know detective and mystery stuff. And I listen to classical music.”

“Wow, those are the things I do too. Have you read Sherlock Holmes, Perry Mason…” trailed off. Cyndia couldn’t complete her line because the bell rang.

Tuesday was a very busy day to everyone so Gideon and Cyndia did not have much time to sit and talk so they exchanged their numbers. During the night while Cyndia was listening to classical music she looked outside for the first time after summer and she found herself starring at Gideon. He looked as if he was so heart broken and having a debate with his girlfriend. Cyndia without her knowledge started to sing Taylor Swift’s song:

“You're on the phone with your girlfriend, she's upset
She's going off about something that you said
'Cause she doesn't get your humor like I do

I'm in my room, it's a typical Tuesday night
I'm listening to the kind of music she doesn't like
And she'll never know your story like I do”

“Oh god! What’s the use of me dressing in a way that Gideon likes? Even though he asked me to go to prom with him, he is so much attached to her. I will never get a chance to go out with him.” though Cyndia. She started crying without her own knowledge and few hours later she drifted in to sleep.

When Cyndia woke up in the morning on Wednesday, she found a nice, agreeable weather. The sun was shining with beautiful cotton clouds in the sky. Cyndia was excited to go to school in the morning and prom in the night. But the thought immediately made her feel sad because Gideon is still going out with his French girlfriend. Therefore Cyndia planned to avoid Gideon so that she can concentrate more on her work. But she knew that she will meet him during classes.

After Math class, Cyndia tried her very best to avoid him but Gideon came chasing after her. She walked as fast as she could and went to her locker to put the books.

“Cyndia! Cyndia! Cyndia!” Gideon called out her name while he was trying to catch up with her. He passed his locker and went close to Cyndia’s locker.

“Cyndia, are you all right? You look pale as white as a sheet.” questioned Gideon.

“Yes, I’m fine” answered Cyndia shortly.

“Sweet heart, please don’t hide things from me. You can trust me and rely on me. Tell me… is it something related to me? I love you!” he whispered softly at the end.

“HOW DARE YOU tell that to me. You give me a red rose and tell me that you love me when you have a girlfriend. I know that you have one. You were talking to her last night as well.”

“Oh Honey! She broke up with me when I told her that I’m coming here. But she kept on calling me and yelling at me. I told her that I’m in love with you darling. That’s why she called me last night… to tell me that I’m making the biggest mistake on Earth. I kept on saying that you are the best thing in my life and you were created for me and meant to be only for me. You are my soul mate. Please tell me that you love me back.”

“But why me? A guy had never ever asked me out before.”

“I know that sweet heart. That’s why I believe that God only wanted you to go out with me. So what do you say darling?” asked Gideon placing a little box on Cyndia’s palm which was bounded with two ribbons with a bow on top.

Cyndia opened the box slowly. She was excited and was curious to find out what’s inside the box.

“Oh my god!” exclaimed Cyndia after looking inside the box. “It’s that ring …” she broke off unable to say another word because she was overjoyed and trying to control her happy tears. “This is for me?” she asked at last.

“I saw you starring at that ring yesterday thought you would like to have it.” replied Gideon happy to know that Cyndia liked it.

“Thank you. This is like a dream. I never thought this moment will happen in my life, never ever.” said Cyndia unable to imagine whether she was dreaming or not.

“It’s not a dream sweet heart. You’re my darling cup cake.” said Gideon and planted a kiss on her forehead.

Cyndia and Gideon went out everywhere together and always shared their secrets with each other. Cyndia felt that she was the happiest girl on Earth and Gideon always made her feel special. They went to College together and graduated with first class. They got married and had five kids and lived happily ever after.

Gladys Graham

Taylor Swift's song!! A like. And it sounds pretty good. Just a piece of advice, when you're using some kinda complimentary words, add a comma. Like 'Oh, honey!'. The story is just so sweet and adorable.

Nice story. Good idea, but I had a feeling it was a little short. But that's just me. Other ways I really enjoyed it. Keep up the good job :)

Thank you for commenting. To me it was short too but a friend of mine asked whether I'm writing a novel instead of writing a short story... Nice to here from you...

I apologize for being a late reader, I just noticed I had a reading request from you that I hadn't attended to :( sorry. back to the story, I LOVED this and you've done a wonderful job. haha Gideon Cross reminded me of the guy from the novel 'Bared to you' but this Gideon was so much better and those two were so cute together. I started to sing the song in the between where you've mentioned the lyrics. JOB well done :) and keep those GREAT stories coming.

lost love long forgotten

This was fun to read. I enjoyed it a lot. I also have a hard time writing romance stories but, I try my best as you have done. I like Gideon he was sweet that is a rare great quality for a guy to have in my town usually the guys are like dogs literally. So Gideon was a nice one even if he was made up.

Thank you very much for reading and commenting. Yah, I like sweet guys even though we find guys like dogs now. I like Gideon as well even though he's a made up character.

It's a very cute story! Thanks for sharing it! Just one or two thing I noticed was that you change tense...I would try to keep it the same through out the story. Also, one of the mistakes I used to make was introducing the character and their story right at the beggining...maybe you can try to incorporate things about Cyndia as you go along?

Anyway, it's a really sweet story and Gideon was so cute!!! I would have loved to see this as a novel! I think that would be interesting!!!
