Inspired by "The Great Gatsby"; written on 29th February 2012.

The grass sinks beneath my feet
Pressing to the ground like a lost love.
How naive. Does the poor little grass
Realise how dangerous this is?
Your foolishness is endearing, but the ground
Cannot hold you up much longer.

The sun has been hidden by the clouds.
The secrets of the skies withheld.
You foolish little sun, to burn so brightly
Only to be hidden away. Break free and let
The blue skies roam, or cower forever and keep
The world grey, keep yourself locked within.

But alas – the clouds have won
And their celebrations fill the sky,
They drown the foolish grass, sucked
Up by that dangerous earth. And the
Sun has left, stealing with it lost joys
Making way for the cruel, unforgiving moon.
