A cracked sidewalk is my scene
Battered guitar and a baritone voice the key
Pocketful of change lies in this rusty soup can
"Sir, can you spare a nickel or a dime?"

Maybe this act is too mundane
I'm trapped in a box, can't find the door
Eyes watch, fingers point, voices break the silence
"Mommy, it's a black and white clown!"

Oh, the music breaks the routine of a subway
Hands attract toward each other and make a soundwave
It keeps the rhythm going strong
"Hey man, it's just like Jamaica!"

Pre-programmed machine stands still
Touch me, I will awaken and move
To take your green sheet with the funny man on it
"Thank you. Please come again."

All these figures are one person
Don't you hear the message of the poor?
We entertain you to make a simple dollar
Can't you spare a little more?
