Beyond the city's edge Is a Bullmastiff guard

He lives in the junkyard behind a fence

Sometimes he trembles

Sometimes he mumbles

With an iron collar

And jaws of steel

Could make you holler

Crunching on bones

Like they are pretzels

But a "good boy" on specific days

He is a sweet boy

Full of grandeur suprises

Is a showpiece

A social toy

His looks can scare you

His size can corrupt you

A pigskin coat of copper

Scares away bank robbers

A mask of black as well

Salivating, drooling, but no fooling--

You would be his friend

If you have love to lend

He enjoys hot dogs

And he will kiss you on the chin

If you bring them in

A dog on the city's edge
