Jo Jo American Bulldog

shadow of a life gone wrong

at the dog pound

with a barking sound

but I met you in the corn fields

where we could lay in the corn

and I fed you leaves of grass

like a lover

sweet American Bulldog

salivating and navigating

through life's turmoils

and you feel the pain

you feel the pain

dogs are so smart

and the corn fields of Heaven

your paws will some day meet

mine up there on golden streets

but now I am on the farm

on earth

and when I rise

I will be with you Jo Jo

sweet American Bulldog

and you kissed me

the week you left

down that gravel road

as I tied my shoe

your pink tongue

slid along my chin

as I bent over

funny boy

funny boy

good boy

so we will meet someday

and in the wheat fields

and the corn fields of

Heaven's comfortable shores

we will finally be free

a dog and the master

as God made it
